Slow Coast (Band)

〔Slow Coast are an American rock band formed in Miami, Florida on Halloween of 2014 by Paolo Medel (Guitar, Bass, and Vocals), Tristan Cata (Guitar, Bass, and Vocals), Kevin Villanueva (Drums, Keyboard, and Vocals) and Giacomo Bacigalupo (Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, and Vocals). Coining the phrase and calling themselves "The Blues Revival of the New 20's" the band will usually start off a show by welcoming the crowd to the blues revival of the new 20's. The individual members of the band are influenced by all sorts of genres, musicians, and bands not limiting themselves to a specific era of music, this helps the band incorporate elements of Blues, Jazz, and other genres into their own form of Rock. Although all of their song are structured their live performances tend to be longer than usual because of their jam band style of improvisation and instrumentals.
History
All members born and raised in Kendall most of them knew each other before hand but the whole band met each other in a pre-theory class at Miami Dade College. After a couple conversations about mutual musical influences between Paolo and Giacomo they agreed to jam and asked Tristan and Kevin along with a couple other people to join, but after a couple jam sessions the four decided to stay as a quartet because they connected the most musically. The four would practice for the next 2 months for hours on end mostly jamming, they wanted to start playing shows but there were two problems they didn't have a name or many original songs. That's when songs like "This Side Of The Mississippi" and "Can't Sing My Own Song" were created, while still keeping their jam band feel with songs like "Cementerio del Valle Hermoso" which is an instrumental jam. Finally there was only one problem left which Tristan Cata solved by coming up with the name "Slow Coast" during one of the times all four members were hanging out listening to vinyl. After booking their first gig they were surprised when the crowd cheered for an encore, they began receiving many gigs which led them to catch the attention of Rolando Ramirez who became their manager. After 10 months of shows and 32 original songs the band celebrated their one year birthday with a 4 hour pop show on Halloween 2015. The band went into the studio to record songs for the rapper Arthur Costa, this led them to becoming the house band for the studio "Beatin Path Studio".
